Baltic Gull - Baltische Meeuw - Larus fuscus

Red CRK4 (top) and CJC9 (second), two ringed Baltic Gulls from Finland. The rest of the thumbnails concerns 2cy Lesser Black-backed Gulls that appeared in spring with most or all primaries renewed in the winter quarters. Only Baltic Gull Larus fuscus fuscus (and to a more limited extent Heuglin's Gull Larus heuglini) is known to show such advanced moult. Two of these four birds however, would be rather atypical for fuscus (thumbnails 3 and 5). On the general page of Lesser Black-backed Gull you will also find many ringed graellsii from The Netherlands and two intermedius from Norway.

Alleen van Baltische Meeuw Larus fuscus fuscus (en in beperktere mate Heuglins Meeuw Larus heuglini) is bekend dat deze zulke vergevorderde rui vertonen. Twee van de vier vogels zouden er overigens nogal atypisch uitzien voor fuscus (overzichtsplaatjes 3 en 5). Op de algemene Kleine Mantelmeeuwen pagina staan ook veel foto's van geringde graellsii uit Nederland en van twee intermedius uit Noorwegen.

Normally first winter Herring Gulls do not moult any wing coverts, although a few percent do moult one or some odd feathers. This bird however has replaced many coverts in one wing.

Normaal gesproken ruien eerste winter Zilvermeeuwen geen vleugeldekveren, hoewel een klein percentage een of enkele willekeurige veren vervangt. Deze vogel echter heeft veel dekveren vervangen in een vleugel.

Ringed birds are scarce though, with records of single Italian, Spanish and Croatian birds. The Spanish bird, black NTT8, is a regular summer visitor to Amsterdam. Geringde vogels zijn echter schaars, met waarnemingen van Italiaanse, Spaanse en Kroatische vogels. De Spaanse vogel, zwart NTT8, is een regelmatige zomergast. Caspian Gull - Pontische Meeuw - Larus cachinnans

Deze 1kj vogel bewijst dat de herkenning van Pontische Meeuwen niet lastig hoeft te zijn. Een typische vogel, met aanwijzingen voor determinatie.

Caspian Gull is the least common of large gulls, but still three ringed birds have been observed—two from Poland and one from the Ukraine. One of the Polish birds, however, probably is a hybrid Herring x Caspian Gull. On the Caspian Gull page there are more immature birds can be found.

Pontische Meeuw is de minst algemene grote meeuw, maar er zijn even goed drie geringde vogels waargenomen—twee uit Polen en een uit de Oekaïne. Een van de twee Poolse vogels is echter waarschijnlijk een hybride Zilver- x Pontische Meeuw. Op de Pontische Meeuwen pagina staan meer onvolwassen vogels.
