Concerning moult this should be a fuscus, but such obvious internal markings in the scapulars and coverts are not often seen in this taxon. Like this possible 2cy fuscus, it's large and bulky. Op basis van ruipatroon zou dit een fuscus moeten zijn, maar zulke karteltekening op de schouder- en dekveren wordt niet vaak gezien in dit taxon. Net als bij deze mogelijke 2kj fuscus gaat het om een grote en forse vogel.
