2cy Lesser Black-backed Gull/2kj Kleine Mantelmeeuw



1-3: © Ruud Altenburg, 03-06-06. Erasmusgracht, Amsterdam. A very pale Lesser Black-backed Gull that is very difficult to separate from Yellow-legged Gull L michahellis. However, the combination of head and bill shape, broad tail bar and especially the very fresh tertials and coverts (which should be much more worn in Yellow-legged Gull) point to LBBG. Een zeer lichte Kleine Mantelmeeuw die zeer lastig van Geelpootmeeuw L michahellis te onderscheiden is. De combinatie van kop- en snavelvorm, brede staartband en vooral de zeer verse tertials en dekveren (die veel meer gesleten zouden moeten zijn in Geelpootmeeuw) wijzen op Kleine Mantel.
