This 1cy Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus graellsii/intermedius) could be mistaken for a 1cy Yellow-legged Gull (L michahellis): the whitish head with dark eye mask, white underparts, tapering subterminal tail bar and poorly marked, white upper tail (very conspicuous in flight; compare to this 1cy michahellis), pattern on tertials (the white tips have worn off) and greater coverts, and especially the paler inner primaries (only shown in flight, not visible on these pictures) all point to michahellis. However, this bird can be identified as a LBBG by the rounded shape of its head, delicate bill, blackish primaries and scapulars with a rather diffuse anchor-pattern.
