Caspian Gull - Pontische Meeuw - Larus cachinnans

1-3: © Ruud Altenburg, 24-09-05. Erasmusgracht, Amsterdam. Typical 1cy Caspian Gull, showing pale brown wing coverts (with pale tips to medians and greaters) and broad white tips to tertials. Most renewed scapulars show thin shaft streaks; the rearmost feathers still are juvenile. The whitish head with long, thing bill and 'boa' in the neck also are very good characters for cachinnans. Typische 1kj Pontische Meeuw met lichtbruine vleugeldekveren (met lichte toppen aan de middelste en grote) en brede lichte toppen op de tertials. De meeste vernieuwde schouderveren hebben dunne schachtstrepen; de achterste zijn nog juveniel. De witte kop met lange, dunne snavel en 'boa' in de nek zijn ook goede kenmerken voor cachinnans.
